Behlen & Distefano combine manufacturing resources for customers’ benefit
In 2011, Distefano Tool and Mfg. Co., a Behlen company, moved operations from two facilities in north Omaha, Nebraska, to the former Nashua building, 3838 S. 108 St., in Omaha. The move allowed Distefano to consolidate its manufacturing under one roof, which further improved efficiency and customer service, and provided an opportunity for future growth.
In 2008, following a longterm relationship of more than 20 years, Behlen Mfg. Co. acquired Distefano Technology & Manufacturing, increasing capacity and capability for both companies. Behlen, which was founded in 1936, is a global leader in manufacturing, exporting to more than 70 countries.
The combined knowledge, talent and craftsmanship of the Distefano team in conjunction with the resources, diversity and purchasing power of Behlen’s organization in turn have provided customers with many key advantages.
Distefano began its business in Omaha in 1972, and the move to the new facility marks a renewed investment in Omaha by Distefano. Distefano fabricates more than 1,000 different metal components and tooling for various industries including commercial turf care, agricultural, construction, transportation, medical and telecommunications.
Behlen, locally owned and established in 1936, is headquartered in Columbus, Nebraska. Behlen has additional manufacturing plants in Tennessee and Oregon, and selected Nebraska as the place to grow. The plan is for all current Distefano Partners in Progress (employees) to relocate to the new plant.
